What does a community look like when it finally steps into the room together? On Tuesday night, inside the warm hum of Airport, 224 found its answer.
The first-ever 224 x Airport event unfolded like a glimpse into what the project has always hoped to become: a gathering space where strangers feel familiar, friends feel celebrated, and creativity opens the door for connection. Guests filtered in and out throughout the evening—some arriving to paint, some simply stopping by to say hello, and others visiting Airport for the very first time solely because of the event. Each arrival added another thread to a growing tapestry of community that felt both new and deeply rooted.
What made the night particularly striking wasn’t just the turnout, but the energy. People who had never met before left with new friends. Conversations sparked between tables. Support flowed generously—from those who helped prepare, those who participated, and those who amplified the event online. It was a reminder that 224 has grown far beyond an idea; it’s become a living, breathing network of people who show up for one another.
We had welcome flyers out, the 224 sun, and prints of all the December events. There were Dream Donuts—make your own donuts— if you’ve never been there highly recommend, chocolate-covered pretzels, cupcakes, and two bottles of wine for anyone who wanted some. The night kind of flowed on its own: people chatting, grabbing tacos, having a drink, and then around eight everyone basically sat down to paint. We had music going and the vibe was just really fun. A bunch of people made new connections, and I even saw some friends I hadn’t seen in a while. Everything just blended together in the best way. It was was great turn out with about 20 people & i had some friends come after the event to still support. 🙂 It was was just so cute, so 224.

This week marked a milestone for 224 in more ways than one. The newspaper’s release, ongoing collaborations, and the expanding relationship with Airport all converged into a moment where everything became real in a tangible way. For many involved, it offered a rare chance to step back and witness the community taking shape—not just digitally or conceptually, but physically, face to face.
With Thanksgiving in the backdrop, the timing felt almost symbolic. Gratitude hung in the air, woven into every conversation and every small act of support. It was a week of connection, celebration, and quiet realization: this is only the beginning.

224’s next Airport collaboration is coming soon & all throughout December. And for those who prefer spaces outside the bar scene, fully sober events and partnerships are already in the works.
If the first event was any indication, 224 is stepping into a new chapter—one defined by creativity, community, and the simple magic of people gathering with purpose.
None of this would have been possible without the people who showed up—both in person and in spirit. To everyone who attended, supported, shared, reposted, or simply sent love from afar, thank you. And while I may do the writing, 224 is built by many hands and many hearts. Our COO, Cara, along with Nicole, Ashley, and more, put in an incredible amount of work this week—from the event itself to the paper and everything in between. Their dedication deserves every bit of applause. 224 moves because of all of us, together.
