Your Gift Is Your Calling—Here’s Why You Should Use It

What If Your Gift Is the Point?

We all have gifts. We all have something we were called to do in this lifetime— regardless of what we think of ourselves.

Some of us are lucky to know early on. Even luckier to pursue it.

But even in the knowing, there are still the restraints:

Will my parents accept this?

What will people think?

Will I get laughed at?

Is this really for me?

Am I even good at this?

Or is it just some voice in my head?

But what if that voice is God?

Calling us.

Begging us to listen.

What if that self-consciousness is actually your soul trying to be seen?

I wonder why we’re born with this second-guessing. Why we fall under the spell of someone else’s opinion. Why we stay stagnant instead of breaking free.

As if the world isn’t waiting on what’s inside of you.

As if your music doesn’t move people.

As if your words don’t carry weight— as if they’re not the exact thing someone else is choking on but doesn’t know how to say.

As if your art doesn’t translate wounds into beauty.

As if your athleticism isn’t divine.

As if your knowledge can’t be revolutionary.

As if fixing cars or loving speed isn’t a gift, too.

Even the plug is a business man.

So why do we bury our gifts?

Why do we confine the very things we were given to give?

Why are we so scared to root ourselves in what makes us us?

Why are we so scared to root ourselves in what makes us us?

What if our gifts are meant to be shared?

What if that’s what makes our presence known?

Let your gift be your home. The thing you pour your love into. The thing you give back to the world.

Our creativity creates humanity.

Let’s create one we’re happy to belong to.
